Well Designed But Rather Small And A Bit Drab Looking
While it’s not yet time to start learning the alphabet, this set seemed like it might be the perfect toy for our youngest granddaughter; she is fascinated by animals and really enjoys manipulating toys which are able to be fitted together and subsequently taken apart. Even if she doesn’t use them to introduce the alphabet, it’s a lovely way for our daughter to teach her child the names of a wide range of common animals. The design of the blocks is quite ingenious; for every letter in the alphabet, an animal whose name starts with that letter has been selected and, in one way or another, the letter shape has been incorporated into their body to create a two piece puzzle. The pieces include just upper case letters; while the letters are fully painted on all sides, the animals appear on only one side to ensure that the letters appear in their correct orientation when put together with the animal. Given the ages which this set is meant to appeal to, my wife and I found it surprising that the animal representations are in relatively subdued colours and tend to lack any real “personality” to make them more interesting. While the letters are very useful by themselves, it should be noted that many of them are not free standing; even when paired correctly with their corresponding animal piece, this remains an issue. The animal figures and their paired letters are all made of wood and have been very nicely crafted and finished; all edges have been rounded and we were unable to find any chipped paint or other imperfections. The letters all fit nicely into their allotted locations on the animal blocks although we were disappointed that some letters fit into multiple animals making incorrect identifications possible. I was impressed that the designers made a real effort to create animal blocks which didn’t have narrow sections that would lead to weak spots and easy breakage. These toys should be able to withstand fairly rigorous play. The box the set comes in is quite nice; while it would work well for storage, I would have liked to have seen an optional storage bag included with the set. While the back of the box has a small diagram illustrating the correct assembly of the animal/letter pairs, it would have been nice if a larger, more child friendly diagram had been included. My wife and I found the wooden pieces a bit small; had they (both letters and animals) been slightly larger, it would have made it easier for younger children to manipulate them. These figures are small enough that they shouldn’t be left out in the presence of young children who still mouth their toys; some of the letters and animals present a choking hazard.Aimed at preschool children, this set is useful in building an animal vocabulary, helping develop fine motor skills, and improving letter recognition and identifying letter sounds. The figures are easily identifiable and, if not inspiring, of interest to most children. This would make a good gift for almost any toddler.

Durable and educational
This puzzle is such a wonderful educational resource! It helps children not only identify the animals within the puzzle, but sounding out the initial letter of the word, and then recognizing visually the letter that goes with it. The puzzle itself does have grooves within the animals that aid in identifying the correct letter associated with the animal (example in bear you can see the two bumps within the capital b), but not distinctive enough that the child doesn’t have to rely on memory and knowledge of that animal/letter.The pieces are very thick and extremely durable! They have a coding on them that makes it easy to clean without damaging the toy. The box comes with two bags so that you can separately store the letters and the animals if you choose. The pieces do have a bit of a smell when you open the bag but if you leave them for about 20 minutes that smell dissipates. The colours are vivid, and the pictures are clear. It looks just like the image listed on the advertisement.

Quality made, Alphabet/ Animal puzzle. Great way to grow imagination, learn and play.
This Montessori, Wooden, Animal/ Alphabet- Combination Puzzle comes with 52 pieces to match up and put together. It truly promotes hands on play and helps children connect animals to specific letters in the Alphabet. It teaches them the letters, color recognition, and animal recognition and helps grow their imagination. It was difficult for my 3 year old to figure out on his own what letter belonged with what animal, but working with me and his older brother he really loved playing with this Wooden puzzle set and asked so much questions, that enhanced his cognative learning. It awakened his curiosity and he loved playing with all the animals, in his own precious way. I know he will grow with this quality toy and will use it accordingly as he ages and learns that much more.I appreciate that it is made of quality wood, and every piece is painted with non- toxic paint. Each piece is free of sharp edges and is safe for a child to play with. This gives me a piece of mind when my child plays with this set. I just wish the pieces were a bit bigger in size. Also, its a bit overpriced for what it is, $35 at this time.Still, it's a great little set to have in my little ones toy collection that not only he can play with, but a toy he can learn from in a variety of different ways. Like it very much and recommend.

Fun, Educational Alphabet & Animal Puzzle Set
This set of alphabet letters and animals was exactly as advertised and is a really smart idea for a toy. The pieces are lightweight yet feel well-made, and the colors and designs of both the letters and animals are high quality. The recommended age range of 3+ feels accurate. The animals are easy to recognize and pair nicely with their matching letters. I can see how this toy would be great for helping children learn the alphabet, animal names, and how puzzle pieces fit together. My only small critique is that I expected the parts to be a little larger (the letters are about 2” tall and the animals around 3”), but given the price, I still think it’s a great value and I’m very happy with it. And finally the two different components come plastic bags, it would be nice if it were a nice material but not a deal breaker.Pros:• Lightweight but durable pieces• Bright, high-quality colors and designs• Educational: teaches letters, animals, and puzzle skills• Good value for the priceCons:• Pieces are a bit smaller than expected
